Bastion Park and Polly Sargent Park
These two parks sit along Government Street on the bank of the Bulkley River. Bastion Park is home to the cenotaph and a sloping lawn that leads up to the boardwalk on the dike.
Polly Sargent Park has the Riverboat Building, where Council meets, along with pieces of Hazelton’s steamboat and industrial past and a pier looking out over the river.
It’s a great spot for a picnic on the lawn or a rest on a bench. Watch for eagles, and sometimes even bears, fishing along the far shore.
Plans for Bastion Park
The Village is looking at options for the future of Bastion Park. Any improvements will depend on grant funding.
